"SAFFA" (saef-hA): Colloquial expression for person from South Africa

Highlights thus far

What we’ve learned

1. Flexibility is important. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means a hippy and (as an accountant) I like structure, but time and again we have seen the benefit of being flexible enough to change our plans. Things (the weather, COVID regulations, your mood) change, you meet other travelers with insights and recommendations and being able to change course or add stops to our itinerary has led to some wonderfully, unexpected experiences.

2. Traveling with kids Our Family Gap Year itinerary allows more time to spend at each destination, as opposed to a conventional holiday trip. At their age, our children still have limits, and rushing from site to site or attraction to attraction or constantly packing and unpacking is a surefire way to dampen their spirits. We rather spend more time at one ‘base’ and do our exploring from there.
